Obama’s Middle Class Betrayal

This is a commentary that belongs in the ‘no shit!’ category. Is there anyone out there still believing that our clueless prez is NOT going to raise taxes? If you are one of those fools, I’ve got a bridge to sell you! You are problem the same guy who believed obamasses– sorry, I meant to say ‘obama the ass’…– last year when he talked about the ‘new spirit of transparency’ he was bringing to the Oval Office! How is THAT working out, by the way?

Back to taxes… How does one raise a trillion dollars and keep people ignorant about it?  All you need is our current white house press corps!  Think the NYT is going to report anything about the current true state of affairs– that obama has borrowed so much money that if he doesn’t raise taxes, we go broke… and if he does, you go broke?  Watch as the other countries of the world recover, and we stagnate.  That’s your pal obama.  Thanks for electing him.  Really.  Thanks a lot.

The article below is by Howard Rich.

As much as the Beltway chattering class refuses to admit it, Barack Obama’s electoral victory last year had nothing to do with his oft-repeated, generic pledge to bring “hope and change” to Washington, D.C. Sure it sounded good at the time, but Americans have always voted based on their wallets and pocketbooks – not lofty-sounding campaign promises or rhetorical flourishes.

The real key to Obama’s victory a year ago – indeed his “signature” issue – was his promise not to raise taxes on the middle class.

“You will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime,” Obama promised tens of millions of Americans making $250,000 or less. In fact, candidate Obama promised the middle class billions of dollars in tax cuts, part of his whole “spread the wealth around” plan.

“If you’re a family that’s making $250,000 a year or less, you will see no increase in your taxes,” Obama promised. “Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your personal gains tax, not any of your taxes.”

Never mind the fact that Obama’s plan would have hit income and payroll providers especially hard, rendering “middle class tax relief” irrelevant to the millions of workers heading toward already-crowded unemployment lines.

No matter how you look at it, though, what a difference a year makes.

As an unprecedented string of multibillion-dollar government bailouts and a viral explosion of new discretionary spending continues to wreak havoc on the deficit, does it really surprise anyone to learn that Obama’s “middle class tax cut” was the very first thing to wind up on the cutting room floor?

Of course not. “Class warfare” may have succeeded in getting Obama elected, but it cannot pay for the political promises Obama has made with our borrowed billions.

But that is just the beginning of the great middle class betrayal. Not only are middle class American families getting no tax relief, Obama administration officials are refusing to rule out the possibility that taxes on middle class families will actually increase in an effort to help the government pay for all of this new spending.

So much for Obama’s plan to “bleed the rich” in order to fund middle class tax relief – now everyone must bleed as the President and his Congressional allies scramble to pay for all that “hope and change” they’ve created.

Aside from the obvious demerits of “Robin Hood-style” tax policy (it’s never a good idea to go after the people creating the jobs, is it?), the reality is that Obama’s now-scrapped middle class “tax cut” would have barely made a dent when compared to costly new government mandates being forced upon American families.

For example, according to an unreleased report prepared by Obama’s own Treasury Department, the cost of the administration’s “cap and trade” energy tax on the typical American household came out to $1,761 a year. On top of that, we learned this week that the latest multibillion-dollar proposal to “reform” the health care industry would cost the typical American family of four over $4,000 a year by the time the plan is fully implemented.

Altogether, that’s nearly $6,000 a year in additional energy and health care costs being heaped on American families struggling to make ends meet during one of the worst recessions in our nation’s history – again, with no tax relief to offset the additional financial burden.

Based on these numbers, it seems clear that the American middle class was (and is) nothing but a means to an end for Obama.

It also seems clear that rich or poor, Obama’s plan to “rescue” the American economy involves taxing all of us back to the Stone Age.

Earth to Obama– not all docs are on board with you– in fact not many at all!

Another day, another TV appearance by obama about health care.  Did you ever wonder what could happen if the guy took a fraction of the time he parades on TV or going to anniversary dinners or Olympic meetings and used the time to read up on Economics 101?  I assume that everyone who finds this blog has a basic knowledge of ‘how things work’, but in case you don’t…   the complaint of conservatives like myself are not based in racism or vitriol or whatever the liberal mainstream media likes to claim (and think?  I don’t know– I hope they aren’t that ignorant!).  A conservative recognizes what we already know– that small business is the source of most of our jobs, and that it takes assuming risk to expand operations and hire new workers, so you can encourage job growth by making it ‘less risky’ for businesses to expand.  Bush inherited a recession, and also inherited the 9/11 attacks that were planned for the 8 years before he took office;  instead of moaning and groaning about what he ‘inherited’, he recognized that it was now HIS job to fix things.  He passed tax relief for the people who employ people, therefore encouraging them to expand.  The media loved the phrase ‘jobless recovery’ back then– I doubt you will hear the term about obama’s disaster ‘stimulated’ economy!  It took a few months, but eventually the jobs poured in as businesses expanded.

I have no doubt that one reason for the recession was the knowledge that obama was about to be elected.  Look back at the stock market or economic numbers from last year;  every time obama rose in the polls, the market took a hit.  Businesses stopped expanding long before the banks became concerned about mortgage instruments!  I heard a number of business owners last year say ‘I’ll hold off on expanding– if obama gets elected who knows what will happen to our taxes.’  NOW we know what will happen– they are going up.  This weekend his flunkies floated a ‘value added tax’ idea to the talking heads, explaining why a tax they decried as ‘unfair’ in the past is now a ‘fair tax’.  The bottom line is that they cannot come close to getting the money they need after the mess obama created by taxing only rich people! The guy has doubled our debt, quadrupled our deficit– I mean c’mon, people!  He has ‘blown our wad’ by 800 billion bucks of failed ‘stimulus,’ and now that everyone sees what a failure it was, there is no money left for REAL stimulus!  Obama simply gave money away to his friends– I think he must have assumed that economies always come back, so just use the chance to reward his allies and call it a ‘stimulus package’.  Now he sees we are in real trouble as a country– thanks to him– and he has nothing left to use!  Of course he will ask for more money anyway– and again saddle the country with even more debt.  That is just ‘his thing’-  spend money, award your insiders, and raise taxes.

When you have the ego held by our pitiful president you assume that everyone likes you, and that whatever idea you come up with, everyone will think it is ‘really neat.’  Today he trumpets around 50 docs from around the country, ‘proving’ that they agree with him– and suggesting that doctors are in favor of his ‘reform’.   That’s odd, because none of the things that doctors tend to ask for are in any of obama’s bills;  no tort reform and nothing but higher taxes going forward, for example.

Most people don’t realize that the AMA represents only the small number of doctors who count themselves as ‘liberal.’  In fact, much like what happened with the AARP, when the AMA came out in support of obama 6 months ago, members left in droves!  On the other hand other medical societies, particularly AAPS, have increased their numbers– since they TRULY represent the doctors across the country.  Doctors had better be ready for the next shoe to drop;  obama has a habit of cozying up to folks (like bankers, GM administrators, or insurance companies– in that order) just before turning them into enemies of state through the media.

What would YOU do if you were invited to the White House by obama and asked to stand behind him while he told people things you didn’t believe?  Most people in such a situation will keep their mouths shut, and that is what will happen today.  See the recording below for a more honest response from a doctor who received the invitation.   And visit the REAL voice of America’s doctors here, at the site of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.
