Some stories completely speak for themselves. Under obama, the hubris has been so great that there is no need to work under cover. In fact, you can openly commit a felony by trying to buy off an election and the press not only won’t cover it– they will come up with arguments for your defense! WASHINGTON (AP) – Stung by a series of inquiries, nearly half the members of the Congressional Black Caucus want to scale back the aggressive ethics procedures that Democrats trumpeted after gaining control of Congress.
Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, and 19 fellow black lawmakers in the all-Democratic caucus quietly introduced a resolution last week that would restrict the powers of the new independent Office of Congressional Ethics. The office, formed by Congress in 2008, is run by a panel of private citizens.
Black caucus Chairwoman Barbara Lee, D-Calif., is among the sponsors, but the full 42-member caucus did not endorse the measure. Lee declined comment through a spokesman.
We all accept the fact that politicians are not the most sincere bunch of humans on the planet. But every now and then a politician comes along who raises lying to an art form– who can simply spew our words that have no connection to the truth, and then look you in the face and say “I never said such a thing!” I forget which Dem it was who called Clinton ‘a particularly good liar;’ I really thought that Clinton would be the best liar of my generation. But our current embarassing pig in the White House just keeps on fighting for the prize as ‘best liar’– even after he has clearly won the award several times over.
The following video is truly a classic, and has entertained viewers around the world. The sad thing is that obama will still have his loyal idiots; the folks who think Dems are the ‘good guys’, no matter how many times they are caught red-handed abusing interns and insisting ‘I did not have sexual relations with that woman’ (depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is), no matter how many times the Charlie Rangels write tax policy for the rest of us and are then caught ‘forgetting’ about millions of dollars of real estate, and no matter how many Chris Dodds get sweetheart deals from bank execs as they write favorable regulations, and then blame the other party for the fallout.
The one good bit of news is that the bloom may be coming off the rose. Even the obama fan club, also known as the mainstream media, is having a hard time ignoring obama’s lies. The problem is that there really is nothing truthful to write about anymore! Throw in the facts of what is going on out there– terrorists being moved from a military base in Cuba to the middle of Illinois where they can breed their terror among America’s lowest; repeated attacks against American targets despite obama’s apologies to every country that would have him for a visit; the trillions of dollars of deficit spending reaching as far as the eye can see; the lack of job production in the private sector, largely thanks to obama’s reckless spending that leaves private businesses afraid to expand– which is no surprise, given the promise of higher taxes, higher inflation, and a weak dollar.
Only a fool can pretend that obama’s policies hold water. The Dems with experience are lining up for retirement, hoping to get out before being labelled as a member of the party that destroyed the country in 2009 before being thrown out in 2010. Good riddance– I just hope we can recover from the doubling of the country’s debt under two years of obama– not even counting the damage yet to come from the destruction of our health care system.

Obama came back from picking up his bogus Nobel Peace Prize to find his approval ratings at an all time low. Is it any wonder? I admit to being impressed by his speech– the first time he spoke from anything but a totally ‘wuss’ position! And while he is still miles from ever being a ‘buck stops here’ President, he didn’t use the word ‘inherited’ even once that I heard. Imagine that– obama actually giving an entire speech without blaming someone else for the country’s problems!
Obama approval numbers continue to drop like a stone
Despite going an entire speech without blaming his predecessor, don’t think that Obama has suddenly grown the wings of responsibility. And he still has the media carrying water for him; tonight a Reuters’ column described the terrible financial trouble we are in, due to ‘tax cuts, two wars and a recession’. They love to talk about the horrible things that obama ‘inherited’, but never mention the fact that EVERY President inherits a set of problems. Reagan came into office with hostages in Iran and stagflation that makes the current recession look like just another bad business cycle– interest rates were 20%, the economy was barely growing, and unemployment was higher than it is now. But you won’t find speeches with the gipper complaining about what he ‘inherited’! It wasn’t his style– which is one reason that he will always be seen as a strong President, while obama will be seen as opportunistic and weak.
Bush I inherited a recession, and Clinton got credit for the increasing business cycle that followed. T he Republican Congress saved Clinton from himself and controlled spending, resulting in a strong economy– but not as strong as the budget numbers implied, which relied on projections of endless capital gains taxes from a stock market that turned out to be an obvious bubble. So in comes Bush II, inheriting a recession that had been underway for one month (rarely mentioned, but look it up). Bush resisted growing government, instead cutting taxes– giving businesses reason to expand in order to increase profits. Besides the recession, Bush also inherited 8 years of intelligence failures that led to the largest terrorist attack on US soil. But he didn’t whine about what he inherited; he made an incredible series of necessary steps to increase security in our country in ways that are never recognized by the Bush-hating media. Look at all of the things created by Bush– from the dept of Homeland Security to the presence of Air Marshals to the Federalization of air trafffic security personnel! Think of the work that was required– and look at what his successor has accomplished in comparison. Obama has some records– the most travel to foreign countries in the first year of a presidency, for example, or the most use of the word ‘inherited’ by a sitting president. But as for the tough decisions, he has done nothing except blame others.
As for the Reuters article, we know from many examples through history that tax cuts INCREASE revenue. Beyond the direct stimulation of the business cycle by tax cuts, obama’s horrible attacks on business ranging from cap and tax to health care takeovers to compensation tsars have struck fear into the hears of every business owner, as each waits for the next shoe to drop that will cost the company more than it can afford to pay. As a business owner myself, I wouldn’t think of hiring right now; I don’t know WHAT each new employee will cost, but obama promises to make them cost something big. And why should I risk money to grow my business, when obama has made it clear that he will take whatever money he decides that I don’t deserve? Where is the incentive– am I supposed to risk my business, just so that I can pay MORE to the federal government (whose workers have much better benefits than I will ever have!).
Finally, Reuters blames the wars for the deficit spending. But the war in Iraq has cost a couple hundred billion dollars– a lot of money, sure– but only one forth of the near-trillion dollar ‘non-stimulus’ plan rushed through by obama. How can you blame one without mentioning the other? Deficit last year under Bush with two wars going on– 400 billion dollars. Deficit this year with one war winding down and the other largely ignored– 1.8 TRILLION. And obama’s spending is not ‘temporary’; he has created departments upon departments than promise government jobs for everyone he knows. The new government jobs and departments will cost us for decades into the future. Only someone like obama (or Clinton could have pulled it off as well) would have the gall to ‘crow’ about ‘cutting the deficit by 50%’ all the way down to a trillion dollars– double what it was at the highest levels under Bush!
