Obama’s Middle Class Betrayal

This is a commentary that belongs in the ‘no shit!’ category. Is there anyone out there still believing that our clueless prez is NOT going to raise taxes? If you are one of those fools, I’ve got a bridge to sell you! You are problem the same guy who believed obamasses– sorry, I meant to say ‘obama the ass’…– last year when he talked about the ‘new spirit of transparency’ he was bringing to the Oval Office! How is THAT working out, by the way?

Back to taxes… How does one raise a trillion dollars and keep people ignorant about it?  All you need is our current white house press corps!  Think the NYT is going to report anything about the current true state of affairs– that obama has borrowed so much money that if he doesn’t raise taxes, we go broke… and if he does, you go broke?  Watch as the other countries of the world recover, and we stagnate.  That’s your pal obama.  Thanks for electing him.  Really.  Thanks a lot.

The article below is by Howard Rich.

As much as the Beltway chattering class refuses to admit it, Barack Obama’s electoral victory last year had nothing to do with his oft-repeated, generic pledge to bring “hope and change” to Washington, D.C. Sure it sounded good at the time, but Americans have always voted based on their wallets and pocketbooks – not lofty-sounding campaign promises or rhetorical flourishes.

The real key to Obama’s victory a year ago – indeed his “signature” issue – was his promise not to raise taxes on the middle class.

“You will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime,” Obama promised tens of millions of Americans making $250,000 or less. In fact, candidate Obama promised the middle class billions of dollars in tax cuts, part of his whole “spread the wealth around” plan.

“If you’re a family that’s making $250,000 a year or less, you will see no increase in your taxes,” Obama promised. “Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your personal gains tax, not any of your taxes.”

Never mind the fact that Obama’s plan would have hit income and payroll providers especially hard, rendering “middle class tax relief” irrelevant to the millions of workers heading toward already-crowded unemployment lines.

No matter how you look at it, though, what a difference a year makes.

As an unprecedented string of multibillion-dollar government bailouts and a viral explosion of new discretionary spending continues to wreak havoc on the deficit, does it really surprise anyone to learn that Obama’s “middle class tax cut” was the very first thing to wind up on the cutting room floor?

Of course not. “Class warfare” may have succeeded in getting Obama elected, but it cannot pay for the political promises Obama has made with our borrowed billions.

But that is just the beginning of the great middle class betrayal. Not only are middle class American families getting no tax relief, Obama administration officials are refusing to rule out the possibility that taxes on middle class families will actually increase in an effort to help the government pay for all of this new spending.

So much for Obama’s plan to “bleed the rich” in order to fund middle class tax relief – now everyone must bleed as the President and his Congressional allies scramble to pay for all that “hope and change” they’ve created.

Aside from the obvious demerits of “Robin Hood-style” tax policy (it’s never a good idea to go after the people creating the jobs, is it?), the reality is that Obama’s now-scrapped middle class “tax cut” would have barely made a dent when compared to costly new government mandates being forced upon American families.

For example, according to an unreleased report prepared by Obama’s own Treasury Department, the cost of the administration’s “cap and trade” energy tax on the typical American household came out to $1,761 a year. On top of that, we learned this week that the latest multibillion-dollar proposal to “reform” the health care industry would cost the typical American family of four over $4,000 a year by the time the plan is fully implemented.

Altogether, that’s nearly $6,000 a year in additional energy and health care costs being heaped on American families struggling to make ends meet during one of the worst recessions in our nation’s history – again, with no tax relief to offset the additional financial burden.

Based on these numbers, it seems clear that the American middle class was (and is) nothing but a means to an end for Obama.

It also seems clear that rich or poor, Obama’s plan to “rescue” the American economy involves taxing all of us back to the Stone Age.

What are 20% of the people smoking?

A recent Rasmussen poll found that 80% of adult likely voters believe that Obama’s policies have driven up the Federal Deficit. The biggest question I have after reading those results is, where have the other 20% of people been living? Sure- SOMEONE must be watching Dem hack ‘oldbie-wannabee-Hannity’ Olberman (I don’t know if that is how he spells it– and don’t respect him enough to look it up). Then there is that big-boned woman with the fake smile and short hair who is probably the only late-night person with lower numbers than Olberman– what’s her name? I don’t even know– not worth knowing. That whole group on MSNBC are such a joke; I want to see the videos of all of them washing Obama’s toilets on the weekends, something I assume they do, given that they are each begging to be the biggest president brown-noser over the others. ‘Let me do it, Pleeeeeeese?’

It has gotten funny now; at first I was shocked, but then I realized that America has had idiots at the helm before. Not Harvard MBA ‘W’– a person who will glow in history compared to the folly that followed! I’m talking about peanut-farmer turned prez Carter– he was almost as big a fool as Obama, and we survived, right?

How long before the American people turn on the Nixonian tactics– the latest message put out by the White House to ‘snitch on your neighbor’– ‘let us know if you see anything ‘fishy”, they wrote. Wow. What will Obama’s people do to us ‘fishy’ people with ‘fishy’ web sites? Since nothing surprises me anymore I should just see how Chavez handled them– what did Hugo to the South do with the ‘fishy’ people?

Then we have the clueless Congressman Kagen sitting in front of the ‘mob’ of angry old ladies sent by… by who? Barbara Boxer says that the same people she saw in Florida at the recount are now showing up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, causing trouble at town hall meetings! I had no idea you could mobilize old ladies so quickly without using Bingo as a lure– how does that ‘vast, right-wing conspiracy’ make things click so well?! You all remember Kagen– he is the allergist who has been sued by a couple hundred of his patients, who decided to go to Congress. He must have heard that you don’t get sued for malpractice for screwing up the country like you do for being a bad doctor!!

Do you think that Obama in his heart of heart recognizes the irony that his ‘claim to fame’ before the Dems fell in love with him was working as a ‘community activist’– the type of guy who mobilized ‘angry mobs’ to appear at Town hall meetings? To mobilize the very people he now tries to discredit? If those people don’t count, what exactly did Obama accomplish in his years before being annointed president? Or do you think Obama, in his heart of heart, recognizes that when he says the mobs at the meetings are ‘organized and generated’, and at the same time asks people to ‘come out in force at those meetings’, he is being, like, really hypocritical? So hypocritical to be a little bit funny?

I’ll stop talking about his heart, for obvious reasons. But this blog– I don’t write much because the big smear on the underwear that is our Federal Government’s– the smear that is having Obama as president– is so big that I don’t need to point it out anymore. Ick. But the deficit question– in case you are one of the 20%, go back and find one of Obama’s speeches when he talked about Bush’s horrible, 400 billion dollar deficits. The deficit is now 1.8 Trillion, and will stay in the trillions for years.

Thanks, Obama.
