A couple years ago we knew nothing about obama, and unfortunately our newsmedia abdicated their traditional role of shining a light on stinky politicians– allowing perhaps one of histories ‘stinkiest’ to get elected. Liberals will view my ‘stinky’ comments as racist of course, and that’s fine– I can’t change their world-view, and don’t really want to. In fact, I think it best if we let their ‘world views’ shine forth for all to see; let them take responsibility for the mess that they have created. If you go back in this blog about 14 months or so, you will see that I have been consistent; my fear then was that obama would be allowed to pass his ridiculous ‘stimulus plan’, which any non-partisan, educated reader knew was more anti-stimulus than pro-stimulus. Why? because businesses want to see an environment that allows growth, before they will commit to hiring. Wouldn’t you? And businesses saw a trillion dollars of spending, the vast majority on social welfare programs that extended decades into the future, guaranteeing the eventuality of higher taxes. None of this is rocket science– would YOU risk everything that you owned, to take a shot a growing a business that allowed you to take home a third of what you earned?
The trillion dollars offered nothing for businesses; it may be a good thing to give money to teachers and unions (if you are a teacher, anyway)– but the money goes to buy them better pensions– not toward creating a job for anyone! I have always suspected that Dems hated Bush so much that they actually believed the garbage they spewed, about him being ‘stupid.’ Never mind that he graduated from the best business school in the world (and do you REALLY think that being the son of the head of the CIA, a Republican appointee, won classroom favors for W at Harvard?! If anything he probably had to work twice as hard). Sure, he couldn’t give speeches as polished as the annointed one– but we all can see just how far THAT talent can carry a country! The Dems figured that being president must be easy… and figured that the economy would just fix itself. Don’t waste a crisis– use it to pass an agenda of wasteful social programs…. and the economy will be fine. Heck, the recession that W inherited got better, right?!
Of course we know the truth; Bush inherited the 2000-2001 recession, then the 9/11 attacks– all in the shadow of Clinton’s stock market bubble and burst. But Bush averted a deeper recession by doing what Reagan did– cutting taxes across the board, for everyone. In return we had 8 years of economic prosperity, until the housing bubble (pushed in part by Dems who believe that everyone needs a home, job or not) brought the good times to an end.
Obama did not reduce taxes like Bush did– he instead guaranteed they will rise. That shuts off any interest in business investment. But even worse, obama threw away a TRILLION DOLLARS– and added layers of government to the auto industry, the banks, and now healthcare. So now we are too broke to actually HAVE a stimulus. Yes, ‘shovel ready projects’ would be nice– if only obama had added them to the trillion dollar scheme that he pushed through in a few days, early last year. Now we really need that money– today jobless claims rose ‘unexpectedly’ again– but it is too late. Obama wasted that money, so we have no powder left in our kegs.
Thanks (for nothing) obama!

It is difficult to write this blog for two reasons- first, every morning there are just so many stunners to take in that one hardly knows where to begin! The bigger problem is that it is hard to make humor out of what obama has done in his first year to destroy this country. Those of us with children truly worry about what their lives will be like in a world where ‘acheivement’ is replaced by ‘entitlement’, particularly after three more years of obama’s efforts to enrich the unproductive and tax those with a work ethic. Does this country NEED another program like obamacare that allows people to skip out on the responsibility to own insurance? Yes, I know what he SAYS– that he will make people buy insurance. But he knows that the requirement will be struck down as unconstitutional, and he doesn’t even plan to enforce the requirement on those who ‘can’t afford it’, whatever he decides THAT means. The result will be the absolute worst-case scenario; no need to buy insurance until AFTER you are sick, allowing the least responsible among us to avoid premiums when they are healthy, so that we pay more for our own premiums. People with any savings don’t know what to buy; do they buy the latest stock market bubble, buy gold, or hold dollars– that will drop in value as the hyperinflation from printing dollars takes hold.
The other day I scanned through Time magazine (in a toilet, the only place I would look at that rag) and read one of their gooey tributes to obama (which is the new format of Time and Newsweek, by the way– they dumped any effort at neutrality to write only what the young and dumb like to read). I wondered if it was a premonition of 2010– is obama going to continue to blame Bush for the economy into his second year? Will he EVER be held responsible for the horrible consequences that have already began from his policies? The lack of jobs as business avoids investing and growing, two things that are difficult in the face of this level of deficit spending! Had obama stayed inside and watched TV for the past 11 months we would be further along in the recovery! But we still get goofy joe, prancing around making statements like a B actor…
Normally the image below would be funny. Unfortunately it is only a graphic of the actual state of affairs. Thanks (for nothing), obama.

Obama wins accolades for doing nothing.

The press remains deeply in love with Obama, even as more and more Americans wake up, look at the guy sleeping next to them, and say ‘I’ll never drink again!’ Today Obama, in his weekly ‘pass the buck’ speech on the economy, said that yes, we continue to lose jobs… because the recession was ‘much deeper than anyone thought’. Right.
Don’t ever forget the truth– the press nailed Bush for the economy immediately upon taking office– in the middle of a recession that started before he walked in the door. Six months before Bush took office, the Nasdaq bubble burst– the bubble that was the source of the ‘Clinton surplus’, which was always a projected fairy tale. Yet the press LOVED to say the Bush inherited a surplus and gave us a deficit. The bottom line is that Bush took over after a massive blow to the economy– a stock market crash by any definition, shaving over 80% off the Nasdaq and over 40% from the other indices… then America was hit by a one-two punch with the 9/11 attacks (planned and practiced for years before Bush took office). Those were major blows to our economy– a huge stock market crash followed by the air attacks that virtually shut down air travel in this country, followed by ‘taking care of business’ and destroying the Taliban… and yet the economy did OK. No trillion dollar stimulus package required. Just the tax cuts to spur growth of businesses and create jobs.
Now Obama talks about the recession ‘nobody saw being so deep’. Even his admirers admit that the ‘stimulus’ package was a joke– that it didn’t do anything that a ‘stimulus’ should do. And why would it? There was nothing for small businesses, the major hiring apparatus of the country; nothing for business at all, save his bail-out packages for the banks and auto industry– which happened only because of his fear of angering the unions who elected him.
I see reports in the news about the stimulus money going to pay for government research grants– no extra jobs, just more money for labs in colleges where the labs already existed. I see reports of the money paying for new NEA projects– new plays featuring ‘push the envelope’ sexuality for waiters and waitresses, so they can fill their evenings with their hobbies. No new jobs though. Most of the money went to the states general funds, so that the states could keep spending money on the same old wasteful projects– instead of making the necessary decisions to save money. No jobs there either.
I suspect that Obama figured that since Bush is ‘so dumb’ and the economy came back for HIM, that it must just happen NATURALLY– so he did what his advisors said– and didn’t let a crisis go to waste. He used the recession to pay off his friends and increase the size of government, the exact opposite of how Bush approached the recession HE inherited. And now Obama has doubled the national debt– spending in a few months what took 40 years to spend up to now– so there is no money left for the REAL stimulus we so desperately need. The amazing thing is that Obama is still at it– spending more money on health care– and some Americans are still on board.
Some of us worried that he would ruin the economy, but it isn’t the depth of the recession that surprised us– it was the depth of Obama’s ignorance, and the speed with which he would bankrupt the country.
WOW. Thanks, Obama.
